Let's Talk About Foster Care and HIEs!
Session Type
Breakout Session
Description
Federal guidelines and almost all local jurisdictions place limitations on what demographic data can be shared about children in Foster Care - for their safety. However, when children in the foster care system are taken to health providers, their demographics are shared, creating a situation where HIEs can't effectively link their care to the individual child. These restrictions, particularly on the sharing of demographics, make it nearly impossible for data about the services these children receive to be shared through HIEs. This session will provide an opportunity for attendees to share their experiences and real or potential solutions for HIE and potentially CIE sharing of data on this population.
