The healthcare interoperability landscape is shifting with CMS's new voluntary framework and the emergence of CMS-Aligned Networks. While TEFCA implementation has resulted in more questions than answers, CMS stepping into the ring and committing to share data offers both opportunities and challenges for state HIEs and local actors who have been foundational to health data exchange. Across HHS agencies, leaders are working on a vision of one health system that would better integrate healthcare, public health, behavioral health, research, and other key components of health.
This keynote panel examines what it will take to truly integrate health data, the practical implications of the CMS Interoperability Framework, explores how traditional networks can adapt in an ecosystem increasingly focused on direct patient access, public health use cases, and provide insights into emerging competitive dynamics. Our panel will share real-world perspectives on implementation, partnerships, and the evolving role of trusted intermediaries.
2). Evaluate positioning strategies for existing networks to remain competitive as the ecosystem shifts toward direct patient access, expanded private sector participation, and new approaches from HHS and CMS.
3). Develop informed predictions about the future of health data infrastructure and the role of trusted intermediaries in a consumer-centric ecosystem.
