Description
From fires to floods, HIEs are increasingly playing a critical role in helping states and regions respond to natural disasters, ensuring our most vulnerable residents remain connected to their health and social service support networks. In this session, participants will hear perspectives from Florida, Los Angeles, and North Carolina about the critical role their HIEs played in recent natural disasters, and how other states could learn from and foster similar partnerships.
Presentation Learning Objectives
1) Discover how HIEs can serve as dynamic information partners in disaster responses.
2) Illustrate an understanding of what capabilities and processes must be in place for HIEs to be effective partners.
3) Recognize the challenges and opportunities of working with state and local governments, and emergency service providers, and how HIEs can meet them.
