Name
The Looming Quantum Threat: A Pilot on How to Future-Proof Health Data Exchange
Description

Health data are increasingly vulnerable to cyber threats, including emerging post-quantum risks. This session presents a groundbreaking case study on how Health Sciences South Carolina (HSSC) implemented a zero-trust, post-quantum ready data exchange channel. Attendees will learn about the cryptographic advancements in key management, zero trust architecture, and secure interoperability that enable a resilient, next-generation data exchange infrastructure.

Presentation Learning Objectives
1) Understand the risks of traditional HIE security models in a post-quantum world. Attendees will learn about vulnerabilities in current cryptographic models and why they need to evolve.
2) Explore how Zero-Trust and Post-Quantum Cryptography can be applied to HIEs. We will discuss the principles of zero-trust security and post-quantum cryptographic protocols like KERI.
3) Learn from a real-world implementation of a next-generation exchange path. The case study will provide practical insights, including key management, implementation challenges, and lessons learned.
