The Community Information Exchange is uniquely suited to translate knowledge to action due to the unique features of a CIE, such as shared language, resources database, integrated technology, and community care planning. Academic institutions can play an important role in generating knowledge and collaborating with CIEs to translate knowledge into action for impact. This presentation provides examples of two CIEs (Franklin County/Columbus, Ohio and Lucas County/Toledo, Ohio) that are laying a foundation for collaborations with academic institutions in their locales. These examples broadly cover the who, what, why, when and how of such collaborations and are relevant for emerging and established CIEs. Attendees will learn about the motivations, shared values, and opportunities for CIEs and academic institutions, including faculty, students, and staff, to collaborate and translate knowledge to action in service of individuals and the communities where they live, work, and play.
